A Dingy Basement

A Dingy Basement - Lucille Quigley

I've always been a bit unnerved by our house’s basement. It’s dark and dank, plus we don’t really use it for anything so it always feels like it has been abandoned in those few times that I end up venturing down there for whatever reason.

However, there’s another reason why I’m not that much of a fan of the place. The air quality down there is simply horrendous. I have no idea what’s causing it, but I have been giving serious consideration to having a company come in to do some air quality testing Montreal so that we can get to the route of the problem and hopefully find a solution.

It wouldn’t normally be a problem, however, I’m worried about the poor air seeping up and affecting the rest of the house. Plus I think that it’s about time that we did something with the basement seeing as it has just been sitting there for so long basically being used to store boxes.

So I think having somebody come in to do some air quality testing is probably a good idea. I’m thinking about turning the basement into a spare bedroom, but I don’t want to host anybody if the place is going to cause them any breathing issues. I’d be cursing myself for not having good air quality testing carried out if that ended up being the case.

Still, while looking around for a few companies online I have also started to clear out the junk that is in the basement. Part of that is just vanity, as I don’t want these guys to turn up and carry out air quality testing when the room is such a complete mess. However, it serves a practical purpose too as I need to get the room cleared out so that I can see how much space I have to play with and adjust my plans accordingly.

I have to admit that I am only doing it in little bits and pieces though. It really does get difficult to breath down there, especially if you’re doing heavy lifting, so the sooner I have somebody come in to take a look at it the better I think. For now I’ll just clear out what I can and get a rough idea of what I want to do with the room jotted out in my head.
